Message from the District Governor

We've reached the 50-yard line

George Fletcher

It is the 50 yard line of my Rotary year. I have enjoyed the 55 official club visits, the collected stories, the trips to Haiti and Honduras, the PDG luncheon in November and this month’s Zone Institute for Zones 33 and 34 at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA. I have attended four fundraisers and have been overwhelmed with the sweep and scope of the club service projects and I have probably just scratched the surface in understanding.  We have or will distribute $27,000 in District Service Grants and over $100,000 in District Designated Funds. More.

Pre-PETS

Presidents-elect will meet with me, district leadership and their AGs to begin work on their Presidential Planning Guides which will be due at PETS in March. All President-elects should have received their registration materials for PETS training in Greensboro, NC on March 19-20, 2010. If you have not received their registration information, contact me immediately.  Attendance at PETS is mandatory. -DGE Becky Faulkner

Foundation Facts for January

Rotarians continued to give generously to
The Rotary Foundation, despite the most challenging global economy in more than
60 years. This support enabled Rotary’s
US$200 Million Challenge for polio eradication to nearly reach the halfway point in funding and the Annual Programs
Fund to record the third-highest total in contributions in the Foundation’s history.

The Future Vision Plan, developed to help the Foundation take a simplified and more focused approach to grant making, moved closer to its pilot phase. Of the 277 districts that applied to participate in the pilot, 100 districts from 74 countries and all Rotary zones were selected.
